Most people would agree that some interior home furnishings look better with a shine on them and this includes natural stone kitchen worktops and tables. Bathroom surfaces like Vanity tops bath surrounds and shelves made of materials like marble, granite, limestone, and travertine. Such materials are incredibly long lasting and remain attractive when they are correctly maintained.

I REGULARLY USE MN POLISH AFTER RESTORING KITCHEN WORKTOPS AND BATHROOM MARBLE VANITY TOPS

To keep a natural stone surface looking its best it is obviously important to keep it clean, but also to protect it from losing its shine. This is best achieved with a product like Lithofin MN Polish which is specially developed for natural stones like marble, polished limestone and granite. It is not, however, a cleaning agent, so does not remove marks or stains, but it will help maximise the beauty of natural stone and aid surface protection.

Natural stone is porous some types more than others and needs to be sealed for general use in the home, especially in the kitchen and bathroom areas. Lithofin MN Polish Cream infiltrates the top surface slightly, thus making those outermost layers water resistant. It also manages to brighten and accentuate the inherent natural colours of stones like marble, onyx, granite and limestone.

MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS

Daily cleaning of natural stone surfaces is easier when you use specialist cleaning products. This polish will also give you a degree of extra protection by permeating into the surface slightly and impregnating with water repellent waxes.

WHERE LITHOFIN MN POLISH SHOULD NOT BE USED

Lithofin cream might not be so suitable for bathroom floor tiles where you would probably rather avoid a shiny surface because of the danger of slipping when wet. It is also not suitable for non-porous tiles such as porcelain, or floor tiles with a textured surface.

BEST MATERIALS TO APPLY THE POLISH

Application of Lithofin MN polish cream is straightforward using simply a clean dry cloth. A good quality kitchen paper towel can also be used to apply this polish. For best results when buffing use a micro fibre cloth.

HOW TO APPLY THE POLISH

It is important to use a clean cloth since any grit could cause scratching of the surface to which it is being applied, and scratches are difficult to remove. The method of application is like that of waxing a car in that you apply an even film and leave it to penetrate the stone for a minute but not too long. Work it by hand using a circular motion, followed by polishing off within about three minutes.

It is advisable to concentrate on a small area before moving to the next, because, if the product dries out it can then be difficult to polish.

DRYING TIME

Lithofin MN Polish dries within a few minutes, but it is probably wise to wait for half an hour or so before putting utensils on to a kitchen worktop in order to ensure that is has fully hardened for best protection. Also for best results try not to wet the surface for about half an hour.

CONTINUED AND/OR REGULAR USE GUIDELINES

Regular use is suggested by the manufacturer in order to maintain the best possible appearance as well as a degree of protection against stains and grime build up. Used regularly and often the product can achieve quite an attractive high gloss surface finish. Then, to highlight and enhance a luxurious granite kitchen worktop, for example. As with all polished natural stone you will see different features of the stone as the lighting conditions change throughout the day. Lithofin MN Polish will help to accentuate these features.

SCRATCHES – Lithofin MN Polish will not remove scratches, but with continued use over a reasonable length of time the scratches will become less visible.

CONCLUSION

Lithofin MN Polish cream is an excellent product and just one of the comprehensive range of natural stone care products made by Lithofin, which also includes a liquid version of this polish. Lithofin also have other useful products such as specialist cleaning agents for natural stone. However, provided your marble or other stone surface is in reasonable condition, then probably the cream is all you would need to restore a good lustre, and then to maintain it.

I USED MN POLISH CREAM ON THIS PIECE OF GRANITE CLADDING AFTER REPAIRING IT

Because it is a cream this Lithofin product does not require any great effort to properly apply and to polish but the results are certainly well worth it.

There are no health hazards to worry about when using the product, although the makers do recommend the wearing of protective gloves if you have sensitive skin to keep your hands clean and avoid any irritation. The cream is a pleasant whitish colour without any odour.
